It’s January and you are ready to make changes… Congratulations! One of the main reasons the failure rate for resolutions is so high is that we over-estimate what is possible. Often the January plan is to
1) change everything and
2) do it perfectly!
Which of course, is too much change and too much pressure… pure overwhelm!
Instead, chill. Preferably with coffee and a journal.
What is working in your life? What do you want to keep and build on?
What was working for you before the holiday bump in the road?
Were you happy and feeling good about working out 3x a week and want to get back to that and add a yoga class? Awesome. Very doable. Maybe its time to replace 3x at the gym, with 3x CrossFit, awesome, sign up. It’s doable, the time and working out habit is already there. Build on your existing successful habits and up your game. A tweak, not a complete throw everything out and start from scratch with an impossible routine, in every area of your life…
Were you landing new clients regularly by consistently networking and following up with people you met after each meeting? Fantastic, how can you add a new networking event or 2 and automate or hire someone to help with the new leads generated? Again, continue what’s working, add-on.
To be successful, you have to be clear about your desired outcome.
- What do you want to create?
- How do you want to feel when it’s created?
- How do you want to feel while it’s being created?
- What action can you take to keep you moving in the desired direction?
- How do you turn it into a habit, so that there is no decision required, it becomes your automatic go-to thing to do?
As usual, it’s not rocket science… it’s very achievable. So what’s stopping you? Feel free to schedule a Clarity Call if you need support with getting clear on your desired outcomes. Success is not a one and done deal… being successful for the long haul requires … you guessed it, the right tasks, done consistently, aka, habits. I’m happy to help.
